Product Performance
PO-500 Reverse Osmosis Cleaner is an acidic composite liquid agent, suitable for the chemical cleaning of CA (Cellulose Acetate) and TFC (Thin-Film Composite) series reverse osmosis membrane elements. It causes no damage to reverse osmosis membranes, has strong solubility for inorganic salts such as CaCO₃ (calcium carbonate), CaSO₄ (calcium sulfate), BaSO₄ (barium sulfate), and various metal oxides, and does not cause secondary precipitation pollution during the cleaning process.
Usage Instructions
Dosing Point
The Reverse Osmosis cleaner shall be used in conjunction with the membrane cleaning equipment provided by the membrane system manufacturer. If such equipment is not available, please contact Penmo's technical engineers to manufacture or obtain a membrane cleaning device.
Dosing Quantity
Penmo's technical engineers will determine the optimal dosage based on the actual conditions of your system. Typically, the dosage accounts for 2–5% of the total liquid volume of the entire cleaning system, which includes the cleaning tank, connecting pipes, filters, pressure vessels, and membranes.
Dilution
The Reverse Osmosis cleaner must be diluted in the cleaning tank before entering the membrane system. The recommended diluted mass concentration is 2% (adjust the pH of the acidic cleaner to 2–3), i.e., prepare the cleaning solution by mixing 1 kg of cleaner with 49 kg of high-quality RO product water.
- Check and connect the cleaning circuit: Ensure the cleaning tank, pipelines, and security filter are properly connected. Clean them with demineralized water at least twice. Install a new filter element in the security filter if necessary.
- Fill half of the cleaning tank with RO product water or demineralized water. Slowly add the pre-calculated amount of cleaner into the tank, mix evenly, and control the temperature of the cleaning solution to approximately 30°C.
- Start the cleaning pump according to the cleaning circuit. During the initial cleaning stage, the cleaning solution flowing out of the RO membrane should be discharged from the system, and the discharged volume should account for about 10–20% of the cleaning tank volume. The cleaning flow rate and velocity shall comply with the recommendations of the membrane manufacturer or system supplier. The cleaning time depends on the degree of contamination, usually 8–12 hours.
For the specific operation process, please contact Penmo's sales representative to determine the dosage and cleaning process under specific circumstances.
Packaging, Storage, Transportation and Precautions
The Reverse Osmosis cleaner is packaged in plastic barrels, with specifications of 25 kg/barrel, 200 kg/barrel, or customized according to user needs. Store it in a cool and dry place, with a shelf life of 12 months. During operation, avoid contact with skin, eyes, etc. In case of contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water. It is recommended to use the product water of the membrane system to prepare the standard cleaning solution; alternatively, the qualified effluent from pretreatment can be used. For specific cleaning plans, please consult our company's technical service department, which will formulate a targeted cleaning plan based on the customer's operation status.
