Main Characteristics
This is a mid-late maturing variety with relatively late bolting. It features red skin, red flesh and red core. The taproots are cylindrical, about 18–24 cm in length and 4–6 cm in diameter, with a single plant weight of 300–600 g. The growth period is approximately 100 days. It boasts high yield, excellent quality and good taste, making it a preferred variety for professional growers. Under normal climatic conditions and intensive management, the yield can reach 3000–5000 kg per mu (1 mu ≈ 0.0667 hectares).
Cultivation Measures
Sandy soil or loam is preferred for cultivation. Fertilization should be dominated by base fertilizer (farmyard manure), with additional application of phosphorus and potassium fertilizers. Prepare the soil meticulously and make ridges for planting. Sowing should be shallow, with seeds covered by 0.5–1 cm of soil. Shading after sowing can avoid the adverse impact of high temperature on germination rate. The seed dosage per mu is about 300g (hulled seeds). Prevent and control leaf spot disease.
Suitable Planting Areas & Seasons
The optimal temperature for taproot enlargement of this variety is around 10–20℃, the optimal germination temperature is 20–25℃, and the optimal growth temperature is 10–23℃. It is suitable for cultivation across China. Under suitable temperature conditions, the recommended sowing time is from July 15th to August 15th. For regions including Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Shanghai, Hunan and Hubei, the recommended sowing time under suitable temperature conditions is also from July 15th to August 15th.
