The OptiLobe series rotary lobe pumps combine cost-effectiveness with Alfa Laval’s high quality and reliability. They are suitable for general applications in the dairy, beverage and food industries.
The OptiLobe series pumps are EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering & Design Group) certified for full CIP cleanability, making them ideal for applications with high hygiene requirements.
In addition, the OptiLobe series complies with the US 3-A Sanitary Standards; all product-wetted parts meet FDA regulations.
OptiLobe pumps feature the EasyFit front-loaded seal, enabling quick and easy inspection or replacement without disconnecting piping.
The OptiLobe series offers a compact, high-efficiency design, with a maximum flow rate of 48 m³/h and a maximum pressure of 8 bar.
Standard Design
Pump Gearbox
The OptiLobe series features a universal gearbox design. By simply repositioning the baseplate, the pump with inlet and outlet ports can be flexibly mounted on either horizontal or vertical base frames.
The gearbox is made of stainless steel, and the bearing housing has an electroless nickel-plated surface, providing a clean, corrosion-resistant exterior with no need for painting.
Pump Head Components
OptiLobe pumps are fitted with hygienic full-bore inlet and outlet ports complying with international standards, maximizing flow efficiency and reducing NPSH requirements.
The pumps are equipped with three-lobe rotors with a temperature rating up to 130 °C, suitable for CIP processes.
Materials of Construction
- Gearbox: 304 stainless steel
- Bearing housing: electroless nickel-plated cast iron
- Shaft: duplex stainless steel
- Pump head: wetted parts in 316L stainless steel
- Wetted elastomers (EPDM, FPM) comply with FDA quality standards.
Shaft Seal Options
- EasyFit single or single-flushed mechanical seals.
All seals are front-loaded and fully interchangeable.
As mechanical seals are pre-set during assembly, no special setting tools are required. This further improves the speed and efficiency of on-site seal replacement.

- Complete pump unit includes: pump + baseplate (mild steel or stainless steel) + coupling and coupling guard + gearbox for manual or variable frequency speed control (motor parameters available).
Operating Principle
The pumping action of OptiLobe pumps is achieved by two non-contacting rotors counter-rotating inside a fully cleanable pump chamber, creating volume displacement.
All OptiLobe pumps deliver bi-directional flow without any modifications.
